Convergent iterative schemes for time parallelization

چکیده
Parallel methods are usually not applied to the time domain because of the inherit sequentialness of time evolution. But for many evolutionary problems, computer simulation can benefit substantially from time parallelization methods. In this paper, we present several such algorithms that actually exploit the sequential nature of time evolution through a predictorcorrector procedure. This sequentialness ensures convergence of a parallel predictor-corrector scheme within a fixed number of iterations. The performance of these novel algorithms, which are derived from the classical alternating Schwarz method, are illustrated through several numerical examples using the reservoir simulator Athena.

On new faster fixed point iterative schemes for contraction operators and comparison of their rate of convergence in convex metric spaces
In this paper we present new iterative algorithms in convex metric spaces. We show that these iterative schemes are convergent to the fixed point of a single-valued contraction operator. Then we make the comparison of their rate of convergence. Additionally, numerical examples for these iteration processes are given.
متن کاملFractional-Order Iterative Learning Control for Fractional-Order Linear Systems
In this paper, we discuss in time domain the convergence of the iterative process for fractional-order systems. Fractional order iterative learning updating schemes are considered. The convergent conditions of the fractional-order and integer-order iterative learning schemes are proved to be equivalent. It is shown in Matlab/Simulink results that the tracking speed is the fastest when the syste...
متن کاملOn Extending the Quasilinearization Method to Higher Order Convergent Hybrid Schemes Using the Spectral Homotopy Analysis Method
We propose a sequence of highly accurate higher order convergent iterative schemes by embedding the quasilinearization algorithm within a spectral collocation method. The iterative schemes are simple to use and significantly reduce the time and number of iterations required to find solutions of highly nonlinear boundary value problems to any arbitrary level of accuracy. The accuracy and converg...
متن کاملNew adaptive interpolation schemes for efficient meshbased motion estimation
Motion estimation and compensation is an essential part of existing video coding systems. The mesh-based motion estimation (MME) produces smoother motion field, better subjective quality (free from blocking artifacts), and higher peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) in many cases, especially at low bitrate video communications, compared to the conventional block matching algorithm (BMA). Howev...
متن کاملThe AGEB Algorithm for Solving the Heat Equation in Three Space Dimensions and Its Parallelization Using PVM
In this paper, a new algorithm in the class of the AGE method based on the Brian variant (AGEB) of the ADI is developed to solve the heat equation in 3 space dimensions. The method is iterative, convergent, stable and second order accurate with respect to space and time. It is inherently explicit and is therefore well suited for parallel implementation on the PVM where data decomposition is run...
